Sadio Mane in contention for Red Star match on Wednesday

Liverpool have been boosted with the news that forward Sadio Mane has returned to training after undergoing surgery on his thumb last week.
Mane was sidelines for the Reds’ trip to Huddersfield on Saturday but will reportedly be available to face Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night. Goal.com’s Neil Jones tweeted today that Mane has returned to training and will be in contention for the Red Star match.
The Reds’ No. 10 broke his thumb in training while on international duty for Senegal, temporarily joining Naby Keita on the injuries list.

However, with Red Star Belgrade visiting Anfield for their Champions League Group C clash, Jurgen Klopp will be glad to have Mane’s services at his disposal for the encounter.
The Senegalese international started the season in blistering form but has suffered in front of goal in recent weeks, as have his teammates Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. Fortunately, Liverpool were able to call upon Xherdan Shaqiri and fit-again Adam Lallana to fill the void on Saturday, and both performed admirably.
Klopp may choose to rotate his squad again for the midweek fixture in order to keep his options fresh, and Mane may not necessarily start the game at Anfield. However, simply having the pacey winger available is a huge boost to the German manager ahead of what will undoubtedly be a difficult match.
