Sadio Mane injured in training with Senegal

Sadio Mane could be a doubt for Liverpool’s match with Huddersfield on Saturday after breaking his thumb while on international duty with Senegal, the Independent are reporting.

Mane sustained the injury during training for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sudan on Sunday, and he wasn’t risked for the match, which Senegal won 3-0.

The 26-year-old attacker could now be sidelined for Liverpool’s clash with Huddersfield.

News about Mane’s injury scare comes on the back of positive updates received today about James Milner, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, all of whom should be available for the weekend.

If Mane is indeed out, Xherdan Shaqiri is likely to feature in the starting XI after helping Switzerland to a 2-1 win over Iceland.

Elsewhere, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold took part as England defeated Spain 3-2 in the UEFA Nations League in Sevilla, while Dejan Lovren helped his Croatia side to a 2-1 friendly win over Jordan.
