Van Dijk Believes Salah Just Needs Luck

The striker had a frustrating game against Chelsea.

We thought we’d put the ridiculous rumours of Mo Salah’s form being a one-season thing to rest with his performance last weekend, but alas. Here’s another game where he didn’t score (and admittedly, didn’t really play too well, either) so we’re back to square Everyone-Weigh-In-On-Salah’s-Form.

Klopp was asked about Salah and the decision to substitute him immediately after the game. Now Liverpool defender, Virgil vzan Dijk, has been asked to provide his thoughts on the matter, too.

“He’s still the same Mo and he needs a bit of luck as well,” van Dijk said, echoing Klopp’s sentiments on the subject. “I’m not worried at all and he should not be worried either.“

“We do it all together, we’ll always be there for him and he’ll deliver as well. He had a tough game, but it’s part of football. We are seven games in, the season is very long, he’s working hard and is doing it in training.”

Salah’s mid-game substitution is also something that van Dijk doesn’t think is a particularly big deal.

“You have to [be used to being substituted], otherwise you better leave,” he added. “We all want one thing, we all want to be successful, everyone, and we need everyone’s help.

“It’s a long season with a lot of games, we need everyone and everyone knows that as well, and that’s a big strength for us. Everyone is doing their bit because the season is long.”

Salah will have another chance to demonstrate the fact that he continues to be an excellent striker on Wednesday when Liverpool face Napoli in the Champions League group stages.
