Celtic legend claims Tierney is better than Robertson

Celtic legend Davie Hay believes that Celtic’s Kieran Tierney is “marginally” better than Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson.

The two Scottish left-backs have both shown immense quality in recent times, leading to praise from many.

However, Hay, who won eight major trophies with Celtic, claims that Tierney just edges Robertson defensively.

“Kieran Tierney just edges Andy Robertson for me in terms of the level both players are at just now,” Hay told The Glasgow Evening Times.

“There always seems to be a debate now whenever the two are in the Scotland squad about how they play together or who goes where but for me Tierney is marginally ahead of Robertson.

“They are both excellent players. Robertson is playing consistently at a higher level given the demands of the English Premier League but defensively I think Tierney edges it while I also think he is more powerful.”
