Klopp holds lengthy inquest into Red Star defeat

Jurgen Klopp wasted no time holding an inquest into his players’ toothless performance in Belgrade on Tuesday night, where they were beaten 2-0 by Red Star.

The Liverpool manager spent the three-hour flight back to the UK watching back the match before he watched it again on Wednesday back on Merseyside.

The German decided against carrying out an inquest straight after the match, holding a meeting with his players to point out their errors in a defeat that now leaves Liverpool’s European hopes in limbo.

It was the Reds third Champions League away defeat – leaving Klopp’s side on the brink of elimination.

However, Napoli’s draw with Paris Saint-Germain helped ease the pressure on the Merseyside club – who sit second in Group C.

A light training session followed the lengthy meeting as the players now prepare for their next Premier League game against Fulham on Sunday.
