Ralph Hasenhuttl takes action ahead of Liverpool clash

Ralph Hasenhuttl

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl told the Daily Echo that he cancelled his side’s day off this week after they lost to Burnley last weekend.

“I don’t do it to be nasty to the players or something like that. I do it because I think we have things to work on,” he told the Daily Echo.

“If you know me then cancel the day off means coming here and we weren’t on the pitch but sitting inside working on a few things in our mind and this is exactly the same importance as the work on the pitch. If you do more than they do then you have the chance to be successful.”

Liverpool beat Chelsea on Wednesday in the UEFA Super Cup final and while fatigue may play a part after the game went to extra time and penalties, the Reds will fancy their chances on the South Coast.

Sadio Mane seems to have started the season in form after he scored a brace in Istanbul while Roberto Firmino was outstanding after coming on from the bench, grabbing himself an assist.

Klopp’s side needs to improve defensively as they have been too easy to bypass in midfield which has further exposed the high line that has been implemented so far this season.
