James Milner says Liverpool are thankful for Christmas break

James Milner says that Christmas is giving the Liverpool players a  much-needed break even if he and his teammates are desperate to continue their unbeaten run.

With a 2-0 win over Wolves, Liverpool made it 18 games without defeat and went four points clear at the top of the table.

And even though the Reds are itching to play more football and continue their unbeaten run, the Christmas festivities will allow room for relaxation.

Asked if Liverpool will be thankful for some rest, Milner said: “For sure, obviously legs-wise.

“Mentally, sometimes when things are going well you just want to keep playing games and getting the results, but obviously it’s a hectic schedule (and) you’re going to have injuries, you’re going to have suspensions.

“It’s a tough time of year and a lot always seems to change around this time of year in the Premier League, so it’s important we keep the hammer down and keep pushing and keep trying to get those results.”
