Roberto Firmino sets new Premier League record to overtake former teammate

Roberto Firmino’s Arsenal hat-trick has officially made him the highest scoring Brazilian in Premier League history with 43 goals.

Firmino grabbed three as Liverpool smashed Arsenal for five on Saturday evening, taking the Reds to a nine point gap at the top of the Premier League, with Manchester City not playing until Sunday afternoon.

Though Firmino’s goals were ultimately most important to contribute to the victory, he also achieved another huge feat by scoring them.

The former Hoffenheim star’s three goals took him to a tally of 43, surpassing the 42 amassed by former Liverpool teammate Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho switched Merseyside for Catalonia in January and Roberto Firmino became the focal point of Klopp’s system.

He’s since gone on to bag numerous times for the Reds as they made the Champions League final last season, and chase the Premier League trophy this.

Firmino had been enduring something of a goal drought, without a league goal at Anfield up to this point of the season before Arsenal came to visit.

He did his best to make up for lost time, however, grabbing the hat-trick and taking his total against Arsenal to seven goals in eight appearances.
