Jamie Carragher believes Manchester City are arguably favourites in title race

Jamie Carragher believes Manchester City are right back in the Premier League title race after defeating Liverpool 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

The Reds still maintain a four-point gap at the top of the table, and they have already faced the Citizens twice this season.

Despite that being the case, Carragher believes City’s victory will prove to be massive in terms of who may claim the prize come the end of the season.

“Looking at it now – four points… I think we’ve probably said since the start of the season that City are the best team in this league,” Carragher told Sky Sports, as quoted by Metro.

“I think it’s maybe 50/50, maybe slightly in City’s favour, they will fancy their chances.”

Carragher did add that if City were to prioritise the Champions League, then things could potentially swing back in Liverpool’s favour.

Liverpool’s next fixture in the Premier League is in a week’s time against Brighton and Hove Albion, but they will have the challenge of facing Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup first.
