Mohamed Salah in line to retain CAF African Player of the Year award

Mohamed Salah is set to retain his title as Africa’s best footballer for the year of 2018 ahead of the annual Confederation of African Football (CAF) award ceremony held in Dakar, Senegal this year.

The Egyptian forward was electric for Liverpool in 2018, helping the Reds reach the final of the Champions League last season.

This term, Salah has continued his fine goalscoring form to help guide Liverpool to the top of the Premier League and will play a huge part in deciding whether or not the coveted title will finally return to Anfield at the end of the season.

The final three in contention to win the award is identical to that which took to the podium last year, with Salah said to be nearing his second consecutive CAF Award after another superb year in Red.

The gala will be held after Liverpool’s fixtures against City and Wolves (FA Cup) in Dakar, Senegal on the 8th of January.

Salah has won an incredible number of individual awards since signing for Liverpool last summer for a bargain fee of just £36million.
