Sadio Mane Mocks United, Is One of Us

Liverpool’s star attacker appeared to be enjoying Manchester United’s Champions League defeat last night, and I’m here for it.

I’m not normally one to write about the latest ramblings on Twitter (and/or Instagram, etc). I’m on social media for exactly three things: 1) shouting into the void about the desperate need to act on the existential crisis that is climate change, 2) all things Liverpool, and 3) dogs.

While this story firmly falls into the second category, I still don’t necessary write about those goings on here. But when that story involves Sadio Mane enjoying Manchester United’s defeat to Paris St-Germain in the Champions League? I’m all about it.

Good behavior should be rewarded, after all.

In the midst of United’s 2-0 home defeat on the biggest stage in world football, Sadio Mane took a video of the TV with the caption “Hummm.” Then immediately put out a video of himself and Adam Lallana goofing off during their warm weather training in Marbella. What a lad.

Some detractors might say that this gives United more motivation to do the business against the Reds when the two sides meet next weekend (as if they don’t have enough motivation to derail our title hopes). However, considering how much joy a Neymar-less PSG had at Old Trafford, Liverpool’s attacking trio of Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino should be licking their lips.

Mane has quietly climbed to 5th in the Premier League scoring charts, level with Edin Hazard and Raheem Sterling, having scored in each of the last four league matches. I’m sure all of us would love him to extend that streak to five matches, especially after his fun on social media.
