Everton 0, Liverpool 0: Man of the Match
Wasted chances were the story of the day, but we want you to rate Liverpool’s players and choose your man of the match.
It was a frantic affair nearly from start to finish. The hosts sensed a great chance to derail their neighbors’ momentum and were not in the mood to be cautious today. Visitors Liverpool, desperately needing a victory to keep pace with Manchester City in the title race, had more than a handful of decent opportunities to punish Everton for their enterprise, but poor finishing and odd decision-making means those chances were wasted.
Liverpool’s forwards have not been able to string together a consistent run of form as of late, and it was more of the same today. James Milner and Roberto Firmino made late appearances in place of Gini Wijnaldum and Divock Origi but were not able to influence the match at all, and instead were guilty of being careless in a match where there was little room for error.
Klopp’s side come away from Goodison Park with a point, but have yielded the initiative to Manchester City in the race, and sit now in second place.
Now let us know how you saw it. Hitting the up arrow is a vote to move the player up the list—or to help keep them on top. Hitting down is a vote to push that player closer to the bottom. It’s half man of the match poll and half power ranking, and we want to use it to find out who you think played well after each Liverpool match and, at the other end, who you’d maybe like to see given the next game off.
