Liverpool 2, Tottenham 1: Man of the Match

With another late late show in the books to keep their title challenge alive, we want you to rate Liverpool’s players and choose your man of the match.

We’ve seen clips of this movie before. Liverpool came out at Anfield metaphorical guns a-blazing, not looking to take prisoners. They then notched an early-ish goal, courtesy of an excellent cross from Andy Robertson and a Roberto Firmino header. Despite continued pressure, Klopp’s side fail to build on their advantage, allowing Spurs to seize the initiative in the second half and conceding an equalizer that everybody saw coming.

Tottenham have had a habit of not drawing any matches, and the way things were going, a second goal for the visitors looked the more likely, with Moussa Sissoko guilty of wasting a golden opportunity. With Liverpool increasingly desperate, it was - of all things - a goalmouth scramble and an own goal that ended up securing all three points for the Reds. The title challenge rumbles on.

Now let us know how you saw it. With our usual polling tool out of service, we’re instead giving you a choice between a few of the players we thought looked best today for the Reds, so make your choice below and vote for who you think should be the man of the match—or take to the comments to let us know that we got it wrong by leaving the real man of the match off the list entirely.

And as always, anyone visiting on Apple News or Google AMP who wish to vote and can’t see the poll can make it visible by navigating to the front page of The Liverpool Offside and re-entering the story.
