Andy Gray urges Liverpool fans not to get carried away this season

Andy Gray has accused Liverpool supporters of costing their side the Premier League trophy during Brendan Rodgers’ time at Anfield.

The beIN SPORTS pundit believes Reds fans got too carried away during Liverpool’s last title push and heaped too much pressure on their team.

And he’s warned the same thing could happen again this time round.

“You talk about the fans, and they are incredible,” Gray said. “But [they play] too much of a part maybe.

“I go back to Brendan’s time, Brendan Rodgers. We arrived to watch Chelsea arrive at Anfield and it was like a party almost wasn’t it.

“Liverpool fans had decided ‘this is our year, we’re winning the trophy and we’ll probably win it today, we’re going to blow away Chelsea and win’.

“Sometimes, I know what you’re saying that they can be a great help when you want them to lift you, but maybe could the euphoria carry them away again?”
