Former Red: Liverpool Need Trophies to Keep Stars

Luis Garcia is stating the obvious and not at all adding pressure to an already high-stakes title race.

No pressure on Liverpool and the title race which is out of their hands at this point, anyway, but according to former Red, Luis Garcia, the team needs some trophies to keep its biggest stars at Anfield. You know, just in case you were thinking beyond this season towards the upcoming transfer season and wondering whether one of the big La Liga teams would be making their move.

“If Liverpool win trophies then I think it will be much easier for the club to keep Mo Salah,” stated Captain No Concern for Any of Our Anxieties when he was asked about the title race. “We know that Barcelona and Real Madrid will be in the market for the best players in the summer. And if you talk about the best players in the world right now then Mo Salah must be included.”

Luis Garcia is a Kop darling and will always be a Liverpool legend, but he maybe should read the room before he decides to start bringing up the trauma of other transfers, like a player who rhymes with Will Woutinho.

“I have seen the talk that Barca and Madrid are interested in him and we have seen in the past with Suarez and Coutinho how difficult it is for players to say ‘no’ when they get the chance to sign for one of those clubs.

“At this moment, though, I think Liverpool are a different club than what they were. Last year they reached the Champions League final. This time they are challenging for the Premier League and the Champions League.

“They are now a club with the potential to win the big trophies.”

Cheers, Luis. If Salah reads this and decides he should move, I may end up holding you accountable.
