Henderson: We Couldn’t Have Done More

There’s a lot to celebrate, even if we don’t walk away with the trophy.

Now that we’re on the other — and the more winning — side of whatever that was against Newcastle this weekend, it’s easy to take a couple of deep breaths and actually do some retrospection on the season so far. And who better to do that with than our captain?

“I suppose it’s good for the neutral!” Jordan Henderson said about the season as a whole. “To be fair to us, it’s been a great challenge. City are a great team, but so are we. We’ve competed right to the very end. Whoever gets it will deserve it. From our point of view, we couldn’t have done any more.

“It’s going to the last game and we need to finish on a high at Anfield and then pray that something, a miracle, can happen. We have given everything all season. We deserve something at the end of it, we’ve just got to keep going, keep fighting right to the last minute and see what happens.”

At this point, Liverpool will have to win their last game against Wolves and City will have to drop points, either in their game against Brendan RodgersLeicester City or Brighton and Hove, who are currently 17th in the League. It’s not something anyone is holding their breaths for, but that isn’t going to stop us from maybe, just maybe, hoping either the Foxes or the Seagulls can pull this one off.

“I’m sure we’ll watch [the Leicester game],” Henderson added. “The lads will watch the game and yeah, like I say, pray for a miracle.”

“Will I send Brendan a text? No! Well, maybe. I’ll think about it.

“I’m sure Leicester, who are a great team, will go and give everything, like you saw from Newcastle. I’m sure Brighton will, I’m sure Wolves will.”

“That’s football, everyone wants to win, no matter what stage of the season you’re at. Everyone wants to cause an upset, so hopefully there are another couple of twists and turns to come.”

If Brendan Rodgers is the reason we win the League, we’re all going to have to buy that portrait of him and put it up in our bathrooms. That’s the only reasonable thing to do at that point.
