Dejan Lovren’s agent reportedly in negotiations with AC Milan

The representatives of Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren are currently negotiating a deal with AC Milan, according to La Gazzetta (via the Daily Mail).

An intermediary for football agent Vlado Lemic, who represents several Croatian players, arrived in Italy for talks with the Serie A giants.

Lemic, Lovren’s agent, also represents Nemanja Vidic and Luka Modric, and is hoping to strike a deal between the Reds and Milan for the 29-year-old centre-back.

Lovren has made 170 appearances for Liverpool since joining in 2014 from Southampton. His original transfer deal was worth £25million and Liverpool want to recoup the same amount through the player’s sale this summer, should the move come off.

Jurgen Klopp is under no real pressure to sell Lovren, however, with the Croatian’s contract set to run until 2021.

Milan will not take part in the Europa League this season despite qualifying with a fifth-place league finish after receiving a ban from the competition.

Liverpool, on the other hand, will launch straight back into their defence of the European Cup this season and are likely to challenge for the Premier League crown again.

Lovren may wish to remain on Merseyside and fight for his place in the squad, but the lure of regular first-team football in Italy could sway him this summer.
