Liverpool Come Out Strong Against the Resale of Champions League Final Tickets

The home office have threatened a potential Anfield ban for swindlers caught taking advantage of Liverpool supporters trying to get to the Estadio Metropolitano.

The race to get tickets for the Champions League final ended in frustration for many, many a Liverpool supporter. There are only so many tickets to go around given that UEFA only offered Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur less than half of the 68,000 seats at the Estadio Metropolitano on June 1st.

Unfortunately, far too many recipients of these valuable tickets have taken to the internet to sell off their hot commodities at exorbitant prices. Liverpool have taken a hard line against such behavior and are threatening sanctions against match attenders who participate in ripping off club supporters.

“Liverpool FC has issued advice to supporters on the sale and purchase of Champions League final tickets via secondary and unofficial ticketing sites.

”Fans are warned that buying tickets via unofficial online sources does not guarantee tickets are genuine or that they will actually receive them.

“As part of its commitment to tackle ticket touting, the club has created a test purchase programme to help protect supporters from purchasing via unauthorised ticketing sites. The programme aims to identify and stop these sales.

”While selling or offering to sell tickets without the permission of the club is a criminal offence, LFC also intends to impose sanctions on any supporters found to be selling tickets through unofficial secondary ticketing sites.

”Sanctions could include ticket-buying suspensions and indefinite bans from Anfield. It could also mean that any tickets for the Champions League final in Madrid are invalid, and purchasers will be unable to gain access to Estadio Metropolitano.”

I don’t know what help this statement does to quell greed but an Anfield ban might just make a would-be money grubber think twice about scoring a quick buck at the expense of a fellow Red. Anyway, be advised.
