Rumour Mongering: Bruno Fernandes Agent in England for Liverpool and United Talks
The £70M-rated attacking midfielder’s future will reportedly be decided by the weekend.
Between Lille’s Nicolas Pepe and Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, Liverpool have spent most of the summer being linked to a pair of versatile attackers that every reliable journalist with Liverpool connections has insisted the club aren’t in for.
Today’s new claims out of Portugal probably won’t change that, but for whatever it’s worth—and given the reliability of the Portuguese rumour mongers what it’s worth probably isn’t much—Fernandes’ agent is said to be flying to England to hold talks.
According to A Bola, three clubs are in the running and will get face-to-face meetings with the 24-year-old star’s representative, with Manchester United, Tottenham, and of course Liverpool the possible destinations for the Portuguese international.
The good news, perhaps, is that the latest report paints these meetings as potentially final, with all parties said to be looking to get a deal sorted before Fernandes is due back at Sporting and so that he can begin pre-season at his new club.
If true—and that’s a mighty big if—we should know by the weekend where Fernandes is going to spend the coming season. Which we don’t expect to be at Liverpool given every reliable report has said not to expect big money summer signings.
