Jürgen Klopp “Can’t Think of a Tougher Opponent” Right Now Than Leicester

Leicester City are in a good moment and the Reds will have to be at their very best to beat them.
Forget your Arsenals and your Tottenhams. Right now, two months into the 2019-20 Premier League season, the side that’s done the most to put pressure on England’s presumptive dominating duo of Liverpool and Manchester City are Leicester City.
Brendan Rodgers has the Foxes clear third in the table after seven games, with the third-best goal differential and the joint-best defensive record alongside Jürgen Klopp’s Reds. Leicester look very, very good. They will be a very, very tough test today.
“I honestly can’t think of a tougher opponent to face in this moment and I know they will be very motivated,” Klopp noted in the matchday programme. “They’ve always done well against us since I’ve been here and now they are on the upward trajectory.”
Leicester are certainly playing well—the results speak for themselves. It will also be a chance for Rodgers to get one over on his former club, something one imagines he would rather like to do after some of the acrimony surrounding his final 18 months.
Liverpool, though, are top of the league and defending European Champions. If they play their best game and don’t take Leicester lightly then, at Anfield, they will deservedly be favourites no matter the genuine qualities of their opponent today.
“I don’t want to overstate this, having mentioned repeatedly, but Leicester are in a good moment,” Klopp added. “Their fans, like their team, come here with a feeling of positivity. But we need no reminder of our responsibilities because it’s our stadium.
“We can make it special again and I’m sure we will by going again and giving our all together.”
