Steven Gerrard interested in bringing Liverpool youngster to Rangers in January

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is interested in signing midfielder Herbie Kane from Liverpool in January, according to Football Insider.

A loan or permanent move to Rangers are both on the cards for Kane. The midfielder would be joining Sheyi Ojo and Ryan Kent at the Scottish club.

Kane, 21, featured in Liverpool’s 5-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

For the majority of this season, Kane has played with Liverpool’s Under-23s. Last season, Kane was on loan at Doncaster Rovers.

Kane certainly has ability, but the reality is, he is competing for a spot in a very solid Liverpool midfield. The Reds have more depth in the middle of the park than any other area on the pitch.

A move away could be the best thing for his future. Playing under Gerrard could potentially make him as a footballer.

It is also important to remember that Rangers are in a title race with Celtic, which could tempt Kane to make the move.
