Rumour Mongering: Loris Karius Heading to the Bundesliga?

Turkish Spor Toto Super Lig”Besiktas AS v Demir Grup Sivasspor”

That’s the talk of the town.

It’s been a tough road for Loris Karius.

After showing some genuinely improved form in 2017/18, he had the Champions League final performance we’d all rather forget. Then he made a loan move out to Beşiktaş which certainly doesn’t sound like it’s gone especially well.

But there might be a new avenue for him.

Neil Jones of Goal is reporting that Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin are interested in Karius.

The German capital city club “are among a number of clubs to have made enquiries about a potential deal for the former Mainz shot-stopper, and sources have told Goal that a deal would make sense for all parties, with Karius almost certain to move on for the 2020-21 season.”

Hertha are in a solidly midtable spot, and landing at such a club in his native country would probably count as a good outcome for Karius. It’s been a tough ride for him, receiving a lot of criticism that’s surely hit him personally. I think some of it is unfair, but the game is the game.

What seems all but certain is that Karius will never play for Liverpool again. All that is to be decided is where else he turns up.
