The latest in the Thiago Alcantara transfer saga has a €25M bid made and neither side wanting to budge.

Yesterday, the idea of Liverpool waiting until January to sign Thiago Alcantara to a pre-contract agreement before bringing him in next summer on a free—or in January at a much-reduced price—was introduced to the ongoing transfer saga.

Today, the latest has Liverpool having at least made a firm offer—and perhaps even a put in a formal bid—of €25M for the 29-year-old Spaniard only for Bayern to have rejected it as they stick to their valuation of €30M for the veteran midfield star.

At least that’s according to Constantin Eckner, a Berlin-based journalist who works for The BBC, Times, and ESPN, whose claim of a €25M offer has gained wide traction in England. Personal terms are said to have been agreed between clubs.

It’s not a claim that would seem to advance the saga especially, but it is another source claiming talks are ongoing between clubs, the valuation gap is significant but not monumental, and that a contract has been agreed in principle.

Meanwhile, Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum continues to be linked with Barcelona this week, with outlets in Spain claiming the Catalans would want to pay just €15M for a player the same age and in the same situation contractually as Thiago.
