Liverpool Injury Boost as Naby Keïta Returns to Training
The midfielder took part in full team training and should be in contention for Tuesday’s Champions League tie against FC Porto.
Following Harvey Elliott’s long-term injury and a knock for Thiago Alcantara that looks likely to keep the Spanish international out of action until after the international break, an injury to Naby Keïta saw Liverpool down three midfielders when they faced Brentford.
Today, though, there was some good news for Jürgen Klopp on the injury front as Keïta took part in training with his teammates and is now expected to travel with the club as they head to Portugal ahead of Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with FC Porto.
Reserve right back Neco Williams also trained as the 20-year-old works towards returning from a longer layoff. He will also be expected to travel with the team, giving manager Klopp a close to fully healthy squad to choose from with just Thiago and Elliott missing.
After winning their opening match 3-2 against AC Milan in a game that Liverpool were more dominant in than the scoreline indicates, the Reds sit top of Group B while Atletico Madrid and upcoming opponents Porto are on a point after they opened with a draw.
