Jurgen Klopp delighted with the maturity of the performance against Watford

Jurgen Klopp was pleased with the maturity his side were able to show at Vicarage Road yesterday, which resulted in a 3-0 Liverpool victory over Watford.

Three second-half goals from Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino were the difference in the end, meaning the Reds still only remain two points off Manchester City in the Premier League.

Despite it taking his side a while to get the first goal, Klopp felt the game was in Liverpool’s control right throughout.

“It was a real mature performance. I’m not sure we had the ball in the past as much as we had here as they have been much more open games,” Klopp said, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

“The 3-3 we didn’t really have control in the manner we have now. I like that. I know you people miss one or two situations we had in the second part of last season but we had to play these teams last season. It’s not fair to compare it to other games.

“In similar games last year, we were not that convincing. It wasn’t that clear we controlled the game.

“We controlled it today. They had moments, they had counter-attacks and you cannot avoid that. Controlling it, staying that mood, that’s positive, it is new for us.

“It ended 3-0 and I don’t think any Liverpool supporter would have wanted another result or another performance.

“It was exactly how it had to be in our situation. We have to win football games.”
