Hannah Silcock was named to the U23 ahead of this week’s friendlies.

Having just closed the door on the international break on the men’s side of things, Liverpool’s women’s team will now be headed into their break. At the start of the fortnight pause in Women’s Super League action, it means we’re still learning of who from the squad might be headed to meet their respective national teams.

Yesterday, we learned that 19 year old center-back Hannah Silcock has been named to the England U23 team. The young defender, who is currently on loan to Blackburn, joins fellow Red Missy Bo Kearns as the Red contingent on the squad. England’s U23s will square off against France on Thursday, November 30 and then close out the break against Spain on December 4.

On the league front, Liverpool put on quite the show as they hung four goals on Brighton. Matt Beard’s squad will now hope that the squad - featuring a total of sixteen players named to their respective national teams - can remain healthy and pick things up where they left off when they return to action on Sunday, December 10 against Bristol.

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the table, a point behind Manchester United in fourth, and two behind Manchester City in third. A solid run through the festive season could yield a massive jump up the table. Here’s hoping the team can put together a decent roll and start inch their way into the title race.
