The Reds take on Union SG in the final game of the Europa League group stage.

On Thursday, Liverpool travel to Brussels for the final group stage game of the Europa League. Liverpool have already snagged the top spot, so no one would blame manager Jürgen Klopp if he allowed some of his players rest at home instead of taking the plane trip.

Indeed, several important players will get a break, including Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, and Mohamed Salah.

But despite that, Klopp still declared that they wouldn’t be phoning in the match against Union SG.

“It is really important you find a group who can really fight in a game, who can really go for it, because that is the job to do,” he said.

“We are physically in the situation to do that and from a determination point of view as well; I think we found that and I hope we can choose that line-up because you never know what happens overnight. The line-up in my mind, the line-up we used today in training, would mean we have a good mix between a bit more experience and youth. We want to go for it.”

When asked about Harvey Elliott’s last gasp heroics against Crystal Palace that got the Reds into first place, Klopp had plenty to say about the player.

“With his skillset, he will be in the future super-influential in a team because he can connect things, he has the ability to do that. He has the overview, the technique, the dynamic. He has it,” Klopp said.

Which is great to hear, since he’ll need it if Liverpool want to keep defending their place at the top of the table.
