According to reports out of Argentina, the most optimistic timeline would see Alexis Mac Allister available to face Arsenal on the 23rd.

After suffering a knee injury against Sheffield United last week, it was quickly confirmed that Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister had not suffered any ligament damage and stitches and a relatively quick recovery time were expected to be the extent of it.

Speculation over an probable two-week layoff for Mac Allister would have set a return date around Christmas for the 24-year-old, and reports out of Argentina this week confirm as much and suggest that the World Cup winner’s recovery so far is going to plan.

According to TyC Sports, as of today the most optimistic timeline today would have Mac Allister ready to be in the matchday squad to face Arsenal on the 23rd, while Burnley on the 26th could mark his return if he isn’t ready to go before Christmas.

Of the three games before the Reds face Arsenal, Mac Allister wouldn’t have been expected to face Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League with Liverpool assured of first place in their group or to play against West Ham next week in the League Cup.

Mac Allister would have been expected to get the start against Manchester United this weekend, and in his absence it instead seems likely that Wataru Endo will again be given the nod at the base of midfield for Jürgen Klopp’s table topping Reds.
