The vote is for performances from December 19, 2022 to August 20, 2023.

Liverpool FC captain Virgil van Dijk has been named one of the 23 2023 FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World 11 nominees.

Fans will be quick to jump on the snubs for Alisson Becker and Mohamed Salah. Still, it shouldn’t be too surprising given the former’s snub for the Yashin Trophy and the latter’s consistently lower-than-expected rankings in votes for the Ballon d’Or Award.

The votes are for performances from 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023, and were voted on by 28,000 professional footballers worldwide.

The final 11 will consist of the highest vote-getters for the following positions:

  • the goalkeeper,
  • three defenders,
  • three midfielders,
  • three forwards,
  • and the next outfield player with the next highest number of votes.

The full XI will be announced during The Best FIFA Football Awards in London, which will take place on January 15. Hopefully, some silverware will help make a stronger case for more Reds next year.
