The Liverpool coach and his backroom team have started preparing for their first season.

Preparations have begun for the 2024-25 football season, as Arne Slot and his backroom staff begin the difficult task of filling former manager and Kop hero Jürgen Klopp’s shoes. After a week of training with the players who have filtered in after international duties with their countries, Slot talked about his experience so far.

“I’m enjoying it a lot,” Slot said of getting to know the players and facilities. “The pitches are great. The boys are full of energy; Pep [Lijnders] and Jürgen [Klopp] already said to me last season that I’m going to enjoy working with them – and they haven’t lied at all. Full of energy.”

While many key players still haven’t arrived back due to the Copa Ámerica and European Championship, two senior members who have shown up for duty are Wataru Endō and Mohamed Salah.

Slot praised their fitness level coming into preseason, and also emphasized that their job right now is to be good role models for the young players currently training with the first team.

“Mo came back strong, he was really fit. That’s what I think he always has been but it’s the same this year. What you want from them, like I said, is to set the example for the youngsters as well. For them, it’s very important – just like the other ones from the first team – that they stay fit,” he explained.

Strangely, no comment on what we’re all thinking about, which is that Salah shaved all of his hair off. I guess different people have different priorities.

Liverpool have about two weeks before their first preseason friendly against Real Betis on July 26th.
