Despite an impressive preseason, Sepp seems to have his heart set on a move.

According to German outlet Kicker, Liverpool FC’s Sepp van den Berg isn’t keen on a season playing backup to Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konaté, and Jarell Quansah and would prefer a move away from Anfield. Wolfsburg are interested and in need of a defender, with former-LFC-linked defender Maxence Lacroix already indicating that he will be leaving after the final year of his current deal.

Add Wolfsburg to Van den Berg’s current list of suitors, which includes the club he spent last season on loan with, Mainz, and PSV Eindhoven. Van den Berg is reportedly someone Wolfsburg has coveted for a while and remains very popular among those in charge of the Volkswagen-owned team. Sepp reportedly would prefer a return to the Bundesliga.

I don’t blame Sepp for wanting to play more minutes than being fourth on Liverpool’s depth chart. He’s just come off his best season, and from his perspective, the time to kick on and make himself a nailed-on starter somewhere is probably now. All that’s left is for a club to meet Liverpool’s valuation.
