Arne Slot On New Mo Salah Deal: “We Are Very Happy”

The Liverpool manager reacted to Salah’s new contract. No surprise he’s a fan of it.
Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract, believed to be a two-year deal that will keep Liverpool’s Egyptian King at Anfield through 2027, a run of ten years in Red for a player certain to go down as one of the all time greats.
For Liverpool fans it is, of course, very good news. It’s also very good news if your name is Arne Slot and you just happen to be the manager of Liverpool Football Club and can now count on Salah for at least another two seasons.
“He’s shown at this club for so many years in a row now how much value he has for the team for the club,” Slot said following the announcement. “So as like I assume all our fans, we are very happy that he extended for two more years
“Hopefully he can show now on Sunday again how important he has been for the whole season to us. He is mentally so strong as well, and you need that to be for seven or eight years at the highest level every three or four days.”
With seven games to play in the Premier League season, leaders Liverpool will look in the coming weeks to mathematically lock down their 20th domestic league title. And Salah will be looking to set more club and league records.
The biggest one is Thierry Henry’s record setting 20/20 season, the 24 goals and 20 assists when Arsenal’s legendary forward scored in 2002-03. Salah currently sits at 27 goals and 17 assists, putting not just 20/20 but 30/20 in reach.
Now, though, if he does hit that mark it won’t be something—along with the likely title this season—to put a bow on his Liverpool career and all the fans, the coaches, his teammates and the support staff know there will be more to come.
“For the fans [today’s announcement] was a pleasant surprise,” Slot added. “I knew it a bit longer, of course. He is such a great player and could go probably to every club in the world, wherever he wants to, but he stayed at our club”
