Under-dogs Liverpool could eliminate Pep Guardiola’s City in Champions League clash

The conclusion of the recent Champions League quarter final draw has brought a sense of enthusiasm for football lovers and analysts.

While draws like Sevilla vs Bayern Munich and Roma vs Barcelona have been identified as easy draws with Barcelona and Bayern likely to make it through, Real Madrid vs Juventus and Manchester City vs Liverpool, have presented viewers and bookies to a chance to enjoy thrilling football and high betting odds at 10bet.com.

Juventus vs Real Madrid might be seen as high profile knockout game, featuring the two finalist but Liverpool vs Manchester City gives football lovers a chance to enjoy a game involving 2 tactician, who have different with philosophies but still play open and attacking football.

Jurgen Klopp boasts of the attacking trio of Saido Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohammed Salah with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain supporting the trio. Pep Guardiola on the other hand boast Leroy Sane, Sergio Aguero and Bernado Silvia with  talisman Kevin De Bruyne. The two clubs have already met twice this season in the league. Manchester City was able to hammer 10-man Liverpool 5-0 at Ethihad stadium back in September, while Liverpool were able to win the reverse fixture 4-3 in an exciting game. Liverpool have been able to keep up with goal-scoring stats of the Manchester club, despite the huge financial gap existing between them.

Liverpool’s defence has been the only factor that ruled the side out of the title race, as they sit in 3rd position with 18 points separating them and City. Liverpool’s attacking trio, boasts the highest scoring feat in Europe with the side hitting the target 28 times in 7 outings, which has been enough to keep the club in the competition. Liverpool’s attacking trio, have already contributed a 75% of goals in the continental competition. Manchester City have only tasted defeat once in the Champions League while Liverpool are yet to lose in competition. While Manchester City eliminated Basel, Liverpool overpowered Porto much to the surprise of everyone in the round of 16.

Jurgen Klopp has met Pep Guardiola 12 times as a manager, with Liverpool’s boss grabbing 6 victories and a draw, though the German has been condemned to his heaviest managerial defeat by the Spaniard. Guardiola on the other hand, have never taken a point from Anfield in his 2 year stint while the club have not won there in almost 15 years. Despite the rivalries, the two tactician have proven to be fond of each other off the pitch.

Guardiola stated back in December 2016,  Klopp was the best manager in the world for spectators after Manchester City lost 1 – 0 at Anfield. Klopp at one point appreciated Guardiola’s arrival to the Premier League, while responding to such a big challenge. Klopp said, “Johan Cruyff started Total Football, but Pep made it perfect. He’s an outstanding manager, 100 per cent. He’s very influential.”

It will be interesting to see the tactics both managers will deploy, as they try to out-possess each other. While Guardiola will be thinking of starving the attacking trio of Mane, Firmino and Salah possession in the final third, Jurgen Klopp will be thinking of destabilising the composed and organised Manchester City midfield.
