Mohamed Salah won’t retire from international football

Mohamed Salah won’t retire from international football, according to Egypt boss Hector Cuper.

Salah and his agent Ramy Abass have been locked in an image rights dispute with the Egyptian FA. This led to suggestions  that Salah could retire from international football at the conclusion of the World Cup.

Cuper on the other hand is adamant Salah will play on, though.

“I don’t think so, I don’t think so,” said Cuper.

“I don’t think it’s true because all of those who are here – and those who couldn’t come – really, really support and appreciate the opportunity of playing for the national team, so I don’t think that’s true.”

The World Cup didn’t go the way Egypt would have liked by going out in the group stage, but the injury that Salah sustained in the Champions League final proved to be pivotal as they didn’t have their main man at his peak.

Salah still managed to score two goals for the tournament despite his lack of fitness.
