Derby will have not option to buy Harry Wilson

Liverpool have not allowed Derby County the option to buy Harry Wilson at the end of his season-long loan, according to ESPNFC.

Wilson joined Frank Lampard’s team on a temporary basis after impressing in his spell with Hull City during the latter part of the 2017/18 season.

The Reds judged Pride Park to be the best place for the winger’s development given that his prospects of first-team minutes were limited.

A groin injury had restricted his playing time, but after opening his account for the Rams against Brentford last weekend, he scored one of the greatest free-kicks in the history of English football in a man-of-the-match display against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

His performance will no doubt have caught the eye of Jurgen Klopp, and the report states that the Welshman will be given a chance to fight for his place next summer.

Compatriot Ben Woodburn was also sent to ply his trade in the Championship by Liverpool, but it is again unlikely that Sheffield United will have the opportunity to buy the highly-rated 18-year-old.
