Harry Wilson on receiving special text message from Klopp

Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson has revealed that manager Jurgen Klopp texted him in the wake of his wondergoal at Old Trafford with a simple message of encouragement.

Klopp wrote ‘Fantastic free-kick, really great football’, a message that was gratefully received by young Wilson, who is currently on loan at Derby County.

The Wales international’s goal helped his side to a 2-2 draw and an eventual win on penalties to knock Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup, and he was delighted with Klopp’s show of support.

“It’s great to hear from the manager whose team you want to be in in the future,” said Wilson.

The 21-year-old had an excellent spell at Hull earlier this year before joining Frank Lampard’s Derby side on loan immediately after signing a new contract with Liverpool.

“Early on in the year I was desperate to get out on loan and get some senior appearances in,” Wilson explained.

“When Hull came calling it was a great, great move for me and when I went there I managed to get some goals and assists and get a senior Wales call-up.

“I got my full senior debut and a goal in China, and this season with Derby has been great. I’m in the Wales squad regularly now and I’m delighted.”
