Liverpool pursuing creative playmaker Kerem Demirbay

Liverpool have reportedly held talks for Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay.

Bild linked Arsenal and Liverpool with a potential move for the Germany international earlier this year, but no deal took place after the playmaker was hit with a lengthy injury before signing a new contract.

However, reports suggest that Demirbay’s agent, who also represents Sadio Mane and Naby Keita, have maintained communication with Liverpool and are working on a deal.

Demirbay played the full 90 minutes in Hoffenheim’s defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League recently. He has one assist in his four appearances this season.

Jurgen Klopp oversaw the departure of Demirbay from Borussia Dortmund to HSV in 2013, where he spent three years before moving on to Hoffenheim.

Liverpool have been lacking in midfield creativity this season and may be thinking long-term with the potential signing of Demirbay, who is 25 years old, as a future replacement for Adam Lallana or James Milner.
