Shearer and Sarri have their say on Liverpool

Alan Shearer has suggested that Jurgen Klopp must add silverware to Liverpool’s trophy cabinet this season if they are to make the final push towards being true title contenders.

The former Newcastle man also claimed that Liverpool have spent “a fortune” to get into a position where they can challenge for trophies.

Shearer was speaking on CNN at the time when he elaborated on the pressure Klopp may be under this season:

“Well no more pressure than anyone else who is managing any big football club but you’re absolutely right, Liverpool have spent a fortune to getting where they are now,” said Shearer.

“They’ve now got to get under that final hurdle and Jurgen and Liverpool have to deliver a trophy this season.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri had his say on tonight’s Champions League clash between Liverpool and his old club Napoli.

Responding to the question of whether or not Napoli could beat Liverpool, Sarri said: ‘Of course. I think that it will be an open game.

‘It will be a very hard game for both teams. For Liverpool to play Napoli will be hard and also for Napoli to play Liverpool because Liverpool are doing really well.’

Sarri and Shearer will no doubt have their eye on the result in Naples tonight.
