Triple injury boost for Klopp ahead of Huddersfield game

Vice-captain James Milner has made a speedy recovery rom his hamstring injury sustained against Manchester City ten days ago, and should be fit to face Huddersfield Town this Saturday.

Milner was expected to be out until the end of the month, but has been given the all-clear by the Liverpool medical staff to make his return this weekend, as long as he can take part in full team training from Thursday onwards.

Jurgen Klopp will undoubtedly be delighted to have Milner’s services available given his form this season, and will give him every chance to make the starting XI on Saturday if he’s able, according to the Mirror.

Klopp has also been boosted by the news that both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk should also be passed fit for the Huddersfield clash.

Van Dijk is still on the road to full recovery from his rib injury sustained at Southampton and will miss Holland’s friendly with Belgium tonight, but he should be fit to start Liverpool’s next Premier League fixture.

Salah picked up a minor muscle strain on duty for Egypt but appears to have recovered sufficiently.

Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman was positive on Van Dijk’s fitness:

“He’s back in Liverpool but he is ready to play for next week,” Koeman said. “He’s taken a rest.

“He spoke to the manager. The medical staff of the Dutch national team spoke to the medical staff of Liverpool and made the decision that he was playing only the Germany game and then after back to Liverpool.

“He is ready to play next weekend.”
