Harry Kane Wants Tottenham To Be Like Liverpool

Good luck, ‘arry.

If you’re still disappointed about Liverpool’s Champions League form (including the dreadful away losses to Napoli and Red Star), just take a moment to be thankful you’re not Spurs. Whereas Liverpool only need a win against either PSG or at home to Napoli, Spurs likely need to win both remaining fixtures—home to Inter Milan, and away to Barcelona—to advance. Moreover, they needed to see off PSV 2-1 this week, just in order to be in the position of needing two more wins.

And while rival fans may speak disparagingly about Liverpool’s history, England’s Golden Boy Harry Kane certainly isn’t.

“The Champions League has thrown up some amazing fairytales in the past,” Kane said, when asked about Tottenham’s slim chances of advancing.

“When I watched Chelsea against Barca they looked as though they had no hope and they ended up getting through somehow and winning the final. Liverpool were 3-0 down in the final and won, so sometimes things are meant to be.

“I’m not saying that this is going to be our year, but this win gives us that little bit more belief that we can get through the group and thats the next step for us.

“That’s all we can try and do. If we can do that we’ll be ready to fight in the knockout stages.”

No, it’s likely not going to be the year for the one-time European Cup semifinalists (1961/62). Next year isn’t looking great, either. But I, for one, am happy to know that Liverpool’s glorious history is giving Harry Kane hope that Spurs can someday be less Spursy.
