Unai Emery hoping to emulate Jurgen Klopp’s European impact at Liverpool
Unai Emery believes his Arsenal side can draw inspiration from Liverpool’s European transformation over the last three years as the Reds appeared in the 2016 Europa League final and the 2018 Champions League showpiece.
Since Klopp signed as manager of the Anfield outfit in 2015, the Reds have made it to three cup finals, two of them in Europe. While critics might point towards the German’s inability to guide his charges to victory in any of theme, sympathisers will suggest that he overachieved with the players at his disposal.
Emery has made a good impact at Arsenal since joining in the summer, with the Gunners now vying for a spot in the top four and looking to win the Europa League.

Emery told Sky Sports: “Three years ago we were playing with Sevilla against Liverpool in the final of the Europa League and we won 3-1.
“Two years later, they were playing in the final of the Champions League and I think [that] is one good sample for us.
“Maybe we can do the same, or not the same because it’s very, very difficult – they worked very well with Klopp in this progression.
“But we need time, we need work, but also in the football, the new test is the next match.”
