Mohamed Salah free to face Arsenal and Man City

Mohamed Salah will not face any action from the Football Association over his alleged ‘dive’ during Liverpool’s match against Newcastle yesterday, according to the BBC.

Salah went down in the penalty area after Paul Dummett pulled on his arm and scored the resultant spot kick.

It followed a stunning half-volley from Dejan Lovren in the first half after a poor clearance from Newcastle’s defence. Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho added to Salah’s goal before the final whistle went at Anfield.

After reviewing the penalty incident, the FA determined that it did not meet their threshold for a disciplinary charge as there was contact between the players.

The retrospective rule was brought into effect for the 2017/18 season as a way to punish players for simulation leading to a penalty or opposition player being red-carded.

Had Salah been charged, he could have faced a two-match ban, ruling him out of crucial clashes with Arsenal and Manchester City.

Jurgen Klopp will be pleased with the news that his star forward, who has returned spectacularly to form in recent weeks, is available for the upcoming crunch matches.
