FA Cup win over Liverpool would be huge, says Conor Coady

Conor Coady is desperate for Wolves to win against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Monday night, saying the effect of a successful cup run can be hugely positive on a club’s season.

Liverpool will travel to Molineux less than a month after winning there in the Premier League and while there are some that believe exiting the competition is the best thing for the Reds league form, others say losing again after the Manchester City defeat could have a knock-on effect.

For Conor Coady, one thing is certain: Wolves must stay in the FA Cup.

Coady said: “The FA Cup still matters. It matters to the players – and it definitely matters to the supporters.

“What I would say is that perhaps you don’t understand how big it is until you have been on an FA Cup run. When I was on loan at Sheffield United, there was nothing better.

“They were one-off games – we were looking forward to it with anticipation – anything could happen, as you know. It was definitely special for me. It gets supporters on the edge of their seats.

“The foreign lads might be new here, but it’s an important competition for us. You cannot just dismiss the effect of a successful FA Cup run on any club.

“It’s the best thing in the world to have a run in this competition.

“For Wolves, it would absolutely lift everyone and everything up another level. Liverpool is a great game for everyone – I’ll make sure I’m ready for it.

“I don’t want a rest, and it’s up to the boss who he chooses. But the place will be rocking – there’s no doubt about that.”
