Harry Wilson Continues Fine Form on Loan

The Liverpool loanee scored again for Derby.

Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson continues his fine form away on a one year loan at Derby County. He scored again on Tuesday, his 10th goal this season, helping to earn his team a point at home for the first game of the new year against Middlesborough.

Wilson is one of Liverpool’s most impressive and exciting youth prospects, and he’s proved that time and again while gaining experience and playing time in the Championship.

The 21-year-old winger is becoming well known for his swerving, pinpoint free kicks. Today’s goal, though, was from open play, aided by former Liverpool player Andre Wisdom, who started the attacking move, passing to Jack Marriott, who then found the run of Wilson. Wilson, just inside the box, placed the ball inside the near post for the opening goal in just the second minute of the game.

Wilson clearly has the confidence of Derby manager Frank Lampard. Finding himself with double digits goals by January 1st is a good way to earn that respect. That could only be a good thing for the player, who hopes to earn a place with Jürgen Klopp’s side next season. The battle brewing for promotion to the Premier League should be a useful experience with high stakes football that he’ll need if he wants a chance to play for the Reds.
