Liverpool reportedly end interest in Christian Pulisic

Liverpool have reportedly ended their interest in signing Christian Pulisic after Chelsea made the first move for the American attacker.

The Express report that manager Jurgen Klopp feels that Pulisic, who he briefly coached at Borussia Dortmund, would struggle to adapt fast enough to his Liverpool side this season.

The Reds have been linked with Pulisic for several months, as have Chelsea and Manchester United.

Pundit Craig Burley, however, had a message for the American as his transfer to Chelsea appears to be drawing closer.

“People are saying ‘there’s going to be a couple of positions up at Chelsea’ – well there might not be,” said Burley.

“You’ve got a young guy called Hudson-Odoi as well who is a very talented player who’s still there.

“You’ve also got the potential of Eden Hazard not to move. If Hazard doesn’t make the move, Chelsea will go out and they will lump money on a striker.

“They’re not going to go with [Olivier] Giroud and [Alvaro] Morata, it’s just not going to happen.

“They’ll buy a striker anyway and if Hazard’s still there, he’ll go and play in a wide position.

“That means there is one spot to fill and you have to be better than a Brazilian international [Willian], a Spanish international [Pedro] and a youngster.

“That’s why I’m saying you’ve got to make sure you’re making the right decision for a guy at such a young age, otherwise he will spend even more time on the bench at Chelsea that he’s doing at Dortmund.

“Pulisic has to be careful he’s picking the right club. It’s not just for the money, it’s not just for the corporate side of it.

“But it’s got to be right for Christian Pulisic himself and I’m just not sure, certainly in the short term, that Chelsea is the right move for him.”
