Elsewhere, City manager Pep Guardiola provided an update on the fitness of Kevin De Bruyne, who has on the sidelines since early November and only recently returned to contention again.

“He trained today but tomorrow we need another check in the morning,” said Guardiola, as quoted by Metro. “He’s much better.”

Reds fans will be buoyed with the news that Milner could be available tomorrow night, but will hope the influential De Bruyne’s participation in the game is limited.
