Bayern Munich receive injury boost as player claims he’ll be fit to play Liverpool

Manuel Neuer says he will be fit to play Liverpool after recovering from a hand injury that was initially reported as being more serious than it is.

Reports from Germany claimed that Neuer had torn ligaments supporting his right thumb and that he would not just miss the Liverpool tie but that he would require surgery and be out for the rest of the season.

Of course, with this not being the case, it looks as though the Bayern shot-stopper will be fit to face the Reds after recovering from what appears to have been little more than a minor injury.

“We’re all positive about it,” Neuer told ESPN. “I think I’ll be between the posts.”

Niko Kovac says Bayern will make a decision on Neuer’s involvement following Friday’s Bundesliga meeting with Augsburg.

“We’ll see how it goes against Ausgburg with a view to the Liverpool game,” he explained. “We have to take it one step at a time, we can’t take any risks. We don’t want to make things worse. We won’t play him until he says he’s ready and the doctors are happy.”
