Blow for Tottenham ahead of crunch Liverpool tie
Liverpool have received a boost ahead of their crunch clash with Tottenham at Anfield on 31 March.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been handed a two-match touchline ban and a £10,000 fine following his aggressive post-match rant at referee Mike Dean following Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat by Burnley, and will be in the stands for the upcoming matches against Southampton and Liverpool.
Tottenham fans are reportedly furious that Pochettino is receiving such a harsh punishment, especially in light of the fact that Jurgen Klopp escaped a ban after running onto the pitch following Liverpool’s late win in the Merseyside Derby in December (though he was fined £8,000) as well as claiming Kevin Friend was biased after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with West Ham (another fine of £45,000 followed).

However, Pochettino’s reaction after the Burnley match was roundly criticised as being over-the-top and completely inappropriate, and many agree that his touchline ban is deserving.
Either way, the news will come as welcome encouragement to a Liverpool side who are faltering in recent weeks as the title pressure begins to mount.
