Jamie Carragher and Gary Lineker hail Sadio Mane

Jamie Carragher and Gary Lineker both praised Sadio Mane on Wednesday as Liverpool beat RB Salzburg 4-3 at Anfield to win their first Champions League game of the season.

The former Liverpool midfielder shared a tweet during the game, saying: “What a player #mane.”

Mane scored the Reds’ first goal after superb link-up with Roberto Firmino in a terrifying display of skill, pace and lethal finishing.

Gary Lineker also tweeted about the Liverpool forward, posting on his personal Twitter account: “Stunning bit of play and finish from Mane has given @LFC an early lead.”

The Senegal international has excelled since moving to Liverpool and particularly since Mohamed Salah’s move to Anfield forced him to move to the left flank which has brought greater unpredictability to his game.

The former Southampton forward’s ability to finish with both feet means defenders have a difficult time predicting what he will do under pressure and in tight spaces.

The next several weeks will be hugely important for Liverpool as they face Leicester, Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League before November truly gets underway.
