Trent could be Liverpool's De Bruyne, says Carragher

Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Jamie Carragher says he believes that Trent Alexander-Arnold could be the Reds’ Kevin De Bruyne if Jurgen Klopp moves him into midfield.

Speaking live on Norwegian TV, Carragher said: “I saw him in the Liverpool Academy and my son started there and was four, five years younger than him and Liverpool knew then they had a really good player.

“He has a lot of responsibility at a young age and he’s not going to be a superstar, he is a superstar. His strengths are that he can handle the ball and he is the most creative player in the team, just look at his assists.

“People talk about the future and could he come into midfield and be a Kevin De Bruyne type player and he has more quality now that Liverpool’s midfield players and you think about the crosses that De Bruyne puts in from the right midfield position and maybe that’s a position where Trent could play.”

While De Bruyne is a unique talent, there’s no denying that Trent Alexander-Arnold could play a similar role without fuss but given how much success he is having at right-back, it might be best not to tinker with a working formula.

Jurgen Klopp has put together the best Liverpool side Anfield has seen for many years and it is also as balanced as you could possibly hope for from a side that is on track to score 100 goals in the Premier League this season.

The next month or so will be huge for Liverpool as they face most of the top six sides including a massive test against Manchester City in November.
